Best Dressed: Beautiful Dresses on YA Covers

On the covers of YA books, gorgeous dresses have been a trend for a while. We’ve all seen it, from The Luxe by Anna Godbersen to The Selection by Kiera Cass. Long flowing gowns from sophisticated shades of pink to shocking bouts of bright blue. Here’s a look at some of the best dressed covers in young adult fiction, and for the sake of keeping this post short(er), it’s going to be books that I’ve read.

The Selection by Kiera Cass

My Reviews:
The Selection ••• The Elite ••• The One

Of course, this is the top of my list. I haven’t read The Heir yet, but this series is one of my favourite series. EVER. And of course, that in part has to do with the b-e-a-utiful covers.

Favourite dress: The Selection

The Luxe by Anna Godbersen

This is probably one of the first series that started the beautiful dresses cover trend. It’s definitely the first book series (I’m looking at you, Rumors) that made me long for such gorgeous dresses.

Favourite dress: Rumors

Fallen by Lauren Kate

My Reviews:
Fallen ••• Torment

Like The Selection series, I’ve only read the first three books in this series, but a re-read is in order because I don’t remember much of Fallen except for the bare basics. Anyway, love how dark these covers are and love even more how gorgeous (and matchy) these dresses are.

Favourite dress: Torment

Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard

My Reviews:

Historical YA brings about some of the best dressed books, right? I’m seriously digging how different these dresses are from each other, despite the covers having a similar layout and style.

Favourite dress: Strange and Ever After

The Madman’s Daughter by Megan Shepherd

My Reviews:

Bared shoulders is definitely a trend with this series! But also love how different the dresses are from each other in terms of style and colour. So sad this series is over. Can’t wait to start her new book!

Favourite Dress: Her Dark Curiosity

The Lone City by Amy Ewing

My Review:

The second book isn’t out yet, but I have it on my kindle. While I had some *minor* issues with the first book, there’s no denying that this is one good looking series.

Favorite dress: The Jewel

For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund

My Review:

You may have noticed that there’s kind of a trend going on at the moment: amazing series of which I’ve only read the first book. THESE DRESSES. Grrr, the first cover has had me dreaming of a star-inspired sparkly dress for ages now.

Favorite dress: For Darkness Shows the Stars

Woodcutter Sisters by Alethea Kontis

My Review:

I’m seriously taking a look over at all these books and getting a huge feeling of “why haven’t I finished these series yet.” I loved this fairytale-esque series and the beautiful covers that go along with it.

Favorite dress: Enchanted

Legacy by Cayla Kluver

My Reviews:
Legacy ••• Allegiance

Oh man, I totally forgot about these books. I LOVE this trilogy. Well, I’ve only read two out of three books but still. Dang it, now I really want to know how it all ends! Anyway, absolutely fantastic dresses featured on the covers here.

Favorite dress: Allegiance

Steampunk Chronicles by Kady Cross

My Review:

I really am terrible, you know. All these amazing series and yet I didn’t finish them. I kinda hate myself at this point, lol. Besides the third book, this whole series’s covers all feature gorgeous dresses with a steampunk twist, kind of like the Something Strange and Deadly series.

Favorite dress: The Girl in the Steel Corset

The Vespertine by Saundra Mitchell

My Review:

I didn’t include the last book of this trilogy because the model wasn’t wearing a dress. Again, I’ve only read the first book of this series. Love the contrast in dresses between these two covers!

Favorite dress: The Vespertine

The Princesses of Westfalin by Jessica Day George

My Review:

Again, first book only. But good gods, THOSE DRESSES. Having serious jealousy here people.

Favorite dress: Princess of the Midnight Ball

These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman & Meagan
••• My ReviewGoodreads •••
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
••• Goodreads •••
Pretty Amy by Lisa Burstein
••• My Review ● Goodreads •••

I know that all three of these books are in a series, but they’re the only book in their series that features a dress on the cover. That cover for Shatter Me isn’t even used anymore! All three covers have pretty flouncy dresses, just the way I like them *dreamy sigh*.

**UPDATE**

I just found out that the cover for Their Fractured Light (Goodreads) has been released recently and the dress is GORGEOUS.

  7. So, so pretty! I'm not sure which are my favorite, maybe the Luxe or the Selection series. I also love the covers for the Winner's Curse series :)
