I wasn't sure how good this book was gonna be. After The Mortal Instruments, which was TOTALLY AWESOME, I didn't know how this book would compare to. And, I know I say this a lot but, Oh. My. GOD. This book I could say was as good as The Mortal Instruments, maybe even better! The plot, characters, setting, EVERYTHING was fantastic. Love, Love, Luvvvvved It!


Clockwork Angel takes part in the Victorian Era, which does bring change examples, to what would be appropriate or not to what men and women should say or dress in this century, but that didn't bother me as it normally would. I guess Cassandra Clare's writing is so smooth that time and setting doesn't take much consideration of how her characters should behave, yet readers can still see how the Victorian era was and how it's much different today. There's something about The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices though that make it seem timeless, that it doesn't seem to have a certain age to it, or time doesn't seem to matter in that world.


There are a lot of similarities that I found between City of Bones and Clockwork Angel. Both included an Institute, that much I can say. They had similar characters, such as Will is like Jace, Tessa is like Clary, Jem is (kinda) like Alec and so on and so forth. They even included Magnus Bane in this one! I was at first like, Umm...don't I know him from somewhere? and then, yeah you get the point. So anyway, let's take a look at the beginning, shall we? Tessa arrives in England and that essentially could be the "call to adventure" and how? Her brother "calls" her over. This would kinda be like City of Bones, cause when Clary's mom goes missing, Clary takes on the adventure. SIMILARITY! and then, Jem's character is kinda like Alec's in a way, as Alec has a secret, so does Jem (and no, it's not the same as Alec's) and it both kinda their weaknesses. Not many people know about it. Jace and Will have A LOT of similarities. They're both the teasing, "bad boy", making-fun-of kind of guys. They're both attractive to Tessa/Clary and so yeah, that's the similarity of that. Isabelle would kinda be like Jessamine in this book, as they both are supposed to be pretty and they both want attention by a certain guy. When they both get into action though, they are merciless. ***SPOILER*** Nathaniel and Hodge would be similar as well, as they both betray the Institute, even though Nathaniel is only mortal.


The Plot of this story has its many twists and turns, betrayals and secrets. Each time it's so unexpected that I didn't even see it coming! like the identity of the Magister...I had no idea. Or who was on the good and who's secretly opposing in this game? I had no idea. There are a lot of things which I don't know and won't see coming, but this certainly surprised me! Clockwork Angel is an amazing start to a prequel series to the Mortal Instrument. It almost makes me wish that I hadn't gotten it so early, now I'm going to have to wait longer for the next book! But City of Fallen Angels in next book of The Mortal Instruments is to be released on April 5, 2011, which gives me something to read while I'm waiting for Clockwork Angel, which comes out September 2011!

Top Ten Tuesday - Week 2

"Top Ten Tuesday" is a weekly event hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and this week's list is: Top Ten Books of 2010.


Okay, since I've got NO idea, which books were the best, I'll just be putting down the best book I read for each month...so basically now it's Top "Twelve" Tuesday for me. And yes, I know which books I read each month, cause I mark them down in my calender...shows how much of a book nerd I am.

January – The Luxe by Anna Godbersen


I was waiting for something to read until the book Heartless by Sara Shepard came out and my friends, recommended this to me, as they said, it's kinda like Pretty Little Liars...except in the late 19th/beginning of 20th century. I dunno what to say. It was an amazing book and seemed pretty scandalous for that time. I kept reading the series after that, be assured!


February – The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray


Ahh...February. Full of so many events. There was my birthday, and then Valentine's day and then my sister's birthday. Anyway, I started reading The Gemma Doyle Trilogy in January, but this book I have to say had the most amount of events and of course, it was the largest of the books. It was kinda a challenge for me, in a way, because it had been a while since I'd read an 800+ paged book. Review coming soon, as I'm re-reading it!


March – City of Bones by Cassandra Clare


A Grade 7 friend recommended this to me, and after hearing countless things about it, I of course borrowed it from her and read it. Oh. My. GOD. I was definitely not disappointed with this book and if I never read this book, I honestly would feel as if my life wasn't complete. AMAZING-NESS all in one series and so of course, I read on with the series. Clockwork Angel review coming up next!


April – The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins


Of course, there's no doubt when I say that this would be the NUMBER 1 book that I read this year. The Hunger Games was so amazing! I love, love, loved it so much that I think I re-read it like 3 more times this year! So sad that it ended with not such a good ending though, but still, the first book will be forever. I read this in one sitting, just to let y'all know that this is a book that EVERYONE should read.


May – Airhead by Meg Cabot


This year I have to say, I think I read the most Meg Cabot books in. I remember reading the Princess Diaries, All-American Girl and The Boy Next Door when I was in 6th Grade, but nothing much between that and Grade 8. Airhead, I had no idea how amazing and awesome it was. It was so different, from some other Meg Cabot books, but it was still so amazing...wow I say "amazing" a lot...I guess it just proves how good this book is!


June – Wanted by Sara Shepard


June was a time of exams and school ending, and when I heard that Wanted was coming out on exam week I was like, AWWW MAN! cause I've been waiting for this book forever! but then, suddenly the bookstore Indigo was selling Wanted a week earlier! I didn't care I had to study for exams, and I guess I must've had this crazed look in my eyes cause my parents agreed. I finished it in one night. IT WAS SO CREEPY! an amazing finale to the Pretty Little Liars, this book does NOT joke when it screams "Danger and Suspense".


July – Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater


I was first drawn to the cover when they had it on sale at Walmart. And when I read the blurb, first I was like "oh, brother... not another werewolf thing!" but then of course, being me and hearing some stuff about it, I bought it. Oh My Goodness, I know next time not to judge a book by the creature. It was SO GOOD. But one really weird fact: whenever I read it, the song "Shiver" by Shawn Desman kept on going through my head.


August – Murder in Mesopotamia by Agatha Christie


This book was the first Agatha Christie book that FINALLY my mom and aunt coaxed me to read. It was such an intense plot, and now I know why her books are so popular. After that, there was no way anyone could dissuade me to read one of her books!


September – Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick


I remember seeing this multiple times at Walmart, Indigo etc., but I never really thought about buying it. I was like, sure, the cover's nice and everything, but what about the story? When I was browsing the library I came across this book and I was like, okay, maybe I'll give it a try. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS ME! READ IT WHEN YOU GET THE CHANCE! I made a foolish mistake and when I looked back I was like, how could I have done that? Ignore and face the rath! and plus this opened a whole new door for me in the world of paranormal and supernatural creatures: Fallen Angels.


October – Nobody's Princess by Esther Friesner


I remember this book being the independent reading choice for the grade 7's (I was in Grade 8) last year. I finally got my hands on this book (Thank You Daddy) and because I love Greek Mythology, I was completely hooked. This isn't a modern day mythology thing, like Percy Jackson and the Olympians etc. but the real stuff, the history of it all.


November – Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher


November was a month where I actually read a whole bunch of great books, including Life As We Knew It, Fallen, and others. But I have to say, Thirteen Reasons Why was probably the most effecting. It was so realistic as to the reasons why this girl killed herself. It's hauntingly beautiful and structure of writing is so different than other books. Loved it!


December – Miss Match by Erynn Mangum


Well, we finally come to our last stop of our yearly journey, December! and I really do have to day, Miss Match was sweet and light, not so much like the previous books, which were heavier and much more to process. Miss Match was hilariously good, any girl would love to read this chick-lit!
